Complete guide to install a curb into a glamet panel for prismatic dome.

Tools that we are going to need to install the curb:


Stud tape measure



Permanent Marker



Torque Control Screwdriver


Tin Snips


20 pcs of Lap screws: (10) 1/4" x 1" & (10) 1/4" x 7/8"


Saber Saw


Caulking gun


Sikaflex-201


Cutter for rough use


3/32ā€ x 2 Ā½ā€ butyl tape


GUIDE:

  1. Mark under the roof panel the reference point for the location of the Roof Curb.

  2. Once the hook of the measure tape is in place, you are going mark a point 10cm apart from the hook.

  3. Repeat at least twice.

  4. Once the marks are located, drill the panel from below with a torque-controlled screwdriver and a Ā¼ā€ drill bit.

  5. Drill every single mark.

  6. We will use the measuring tape to mark another point, 10 cm apart from the previously drilled holes.

  7. This is done to place the curb on the roof.

  8. The curb should be aligned horizontally, so that the rib side get align over the ribs panel.

  9. Once the curb has been aligned, an interior line must be marked on the inside and outside the perimeter of the curb. - NOTE: It will be necessary to re-mark a separate line 10 mm below the perimeter line on the bottom of the panel rib.

  10. It is important to mark the cutting lines on, the top and bottom of the panel ribs.

  11. Bottom: Mark a new cut line from the bottom line to the top line.

  12. Top: Mark a line 3ā€ below the outer perimeter line, this new line will help you later.

  13. Before remove the curb from the panel, make sure that the guidelines are correctly placed.

  14. Cut the panel through the interior of the cut line, not through the exterior reference line.

  15. Do this until you have removed all the panels from the curb hole. - Note: It is important when making the cuts, to position ourselves outside the interior perimeter.

  16. Position the clips as shown in figure A to receive the reinforcing bridge using 2 Lap Screws Ā¼ā€ x 1ā€ with a washer for each clip.

  17. Check the distance between poly lines, which will define the real distance of your project.

  18. Cuts the panel following the cut lines

  19. To get to the polyurethane, you have to detach the sheet layer from the panel, do as shown in the video.

  20. Cut transversally on the sheet panel along the new cut line.

  21. Once you have access to the polyurethane, with a cutter blade, cut the small and large ribs to flatten the surface.

  22. Follow the same procedure with the rest of the cut lines.

  23. Besides: repeat process of cut and removing the sheet to be able to flatten the panel with a cutter blade.

  24. Place the border mouldings around the curb hole to protect cuts that we made.

  25. Clean the surface to be able to apply the butyl tape.

  26. Place butyl tape 3/32ā€ x 2 Ā½ā€ around the perimeter of the curb (over and besides the panel).

  27. As an additional seal, it is recommended to use sikaflex sealant around the perimeter of the roof curb.

  28. Install Ā¼ā€ x 7/8ā€ lap-type self-drilling screws in the lateral area every 4ā€ as well as in on the flat.

  29. You have successfully installed your roof curb.
